We’ve finally reached first place, and that spot belongs to On the Hunt. Best of all, they’re totally free and give you a great deck selection and card pool to start your Arena adventures with! These are the latest decks that we got with the release of Streets of New Capennaand we’ll have them until the next standard rotation occurs.Īs a treat, we grabbed numbers from nearly 10,000 games worth of data in Arena Tutor in an exclusive data study to officially rank these decks.ĭon’t know what Arena Tutor is? It’s an MTGA helper app, especially useful if you’re new to Arena. There’s a total of 15 starter decks for you to collect. After that, you complete “ Color Challenges” to teach you the ropes of Magic and improve your mono-colored decks before fully unlocking them and being released into the wilds of Arena to earn the dual-colored decks. When you first sign up for MTGA, you follow a tutorial that shows you the ropes a bit and previews the mono-colored starter decks that you’ll unlock before anything else. Then, you can run cards like Thirst for Discovery and March of the Mists to really round out the deck.Start Your Engines | Illustration by Darek Zabrocki He's a */4 body thats power equals the amount of instants and sorceries in your graveyard. He reduces spell costs of instants and sorceries by 1 blue. When you get some wildcards, you can add Haughty Djinns, which really powers up the deck. Other cheap spells that might work, il just list : Slip.out the back, Spell Pierce, Make Disappear, March of the Mists, Ertais Something Counterspell. Combat Research on my flyer to draw, Fading Hope to bounce threats or to save my creatures. I also like to run Combat Research and Fading Hope. Surround those creatures with cheap spells like Consider (1blue, scry and draw a card) and protection spells like Shore Up and counterspells. If you dropped Delver turn 1, then an infantry or egg, and save your mana for spells to protect them or to burn, then you can easily play Tolarian Terror for super cheap when your opponents will have their hands full. Tolarian Terror is a 5/5 with ward 2, and can be cast for less mana based on the amount of spells in your graveyard. 1/2 trample that get +1/+1 counter everytime you cast a spell. 1/1 for 1 blue that can become a 3/2 flyer on the second turn can outright win games sometimes.Įlectrostatic Infantry is fun too. Here are some very good creatures that are common or uncommon.ĭelver of Secrets as others have said, is really good. I built it more towards cheaper creatures that can grow without much mana cost. I played a similar red blue deck before switching to mono blue for more consistency. They also have a few XP codes but sadly not all of them work anymore even though those should never have an expiration date. This is about the only kind way WotC gives you anything. You will use the MTGA codes to get 3x free packs of every set dating back to New Theros I think? There is also codes for card sleeves to spice your deck up a bit. Then your instant/spells turn into burn damage each time you cast them with the flipped egg. Dig to flip the delver into a 3/2 flier, card draw to keep hand advantage, burn to clear blockers while getting counters onto the Egg, force them to use removal on the egg or you will flip it quickly. I will say I got respect for your deck idea but I am confused why you are not playing Delver as this looks like a Delver deck all day long. The best deck for standard right now is mono-black aggro and mono-black midrange or rakdos while everything else will almost always be beneath it. You have to save gold and play drafts and try to do at least somewhat decently to get cards and gems to progress. It's gonna take you awhile to get a even semi-decent collection and even saying that is a stretch. I think having some higher cost instant/sorcery might be good to pop eggs a bit easier (3-4 mana?) Once the egg pops it seems pretty fun, especially when Lier is played.Īre there any suggestions on keeping the core gameplay of the deck but improving it? I'm not too impressed with Micromancer (too slow, drawing PWF or Consider is meh), Burn Down the House (only good if I'm already board wiped), or Shield-Wall (overkill egg consistency?) but I can't figure out what to put in instead. So far I've just concentrated on building my own deck based on a red/blue machine gun deck.īelow is my most recent version, I started adding more early game board presence to slow matches enough to get the smouldering egg/geistflame/kessig up and running. I've been enjoying MTG Arena as a nice casual game to sink an hour a day into after work, thoroughly enjoying my experience even when getting rolled by bullshit at bronze.
